Food Brings Us Together

Breaking Bread is an indispensible expression of Afghan identity.

Afghanistan lies on the ancient slik road, where goods, ideas and philosophies were traded, building a rich history.

Library of Supporters

Mary Rabeau won an Indigo gift card awarded at random to one of the first 50 participants to register for Breaking Bread 2021. Here is what she said: “Well isn’t that lovely … I’m a winner! I loved the book ” Parvana” and have given it to some of my grandchildren.”
Mary became involved over a decade ago when Sally Armstrong visited Sault St Marie on a speaking engagement. “I had read some of her articles and was thrilled to hear she was coming to our little corner of the world. She was excellent. June 2020 would have been our 10th year hosting a Breaking Bread.
Thank you and the team you work with for all you are doing. It always amazes me the love and dedication and hard work here in Canada and in Afghanistan.”

Menu of Afghan Music Playlists

We are pleased to share Afghan music, including a playlist curated by pianist Elham Fanoos who make time in the midst of finishing his University studies and songs by Ahmad Zahir. Get immersed in the rich world of Afghan music, here.
