Investing in Basic Education
Afghanistan has come a long way in increasing the numbers of schools operating, teachers hired and children enrolled. However, the quality of the education sector remains poor and much more needs to be done to support children to succeed through school. Our Investing in Basic Education Program is helping to improve the quality of education by training teachers who are working in classrooms, and expanding their access to educator resources through the following project portfolio:
- Lantern Teacher Education Program including the activities funded by The Lantern Fund 2025, and the work of the Gender Equity in Teacher Training to Improve Girls' Education in Afghanistan (GETT) Project
- School Starter Kits
- The Fatema tul Zahra Girls School in Kabul
CW4WAfghan plans and manages long-term programs in the education sector in Afghanistan. Each program has several active projects at any given time. To see a list of current projects, hover over the PROGRAMS menu at the top of this page. A menu of all current projects will appear next to each Program name.
